Innovative Sole Designs
Proprietary, versatile designs for both land and water, which also promote both
uphill and downhill traction.
Vibram® Hiker Soles
Overall design puts harder-compound, abrasion-resistant rubber in larger lugs on
the perimeter for gripping and braking power while softer rubber in a central swath
of smaller lugs increases traction on slippery surfaces.
Vibram® Chameleon™ Soles
Multi-directional oval lugs provide excellent grip, stability and traction on varied
terrain as well as on wet surfaces. This Merrell exclusive allows consumers to shift
speeds, sites and steepness of terrain with confidence.
Vibram® Thermo™ Soles
Oversize peripheral lugs and sharp-honed interior cleats and studs churn through
soft surfaces while maintaining lateral stability. Double cleat pillars at the heel
anchor the foot on steep downhills.
Vibram® Multi-Sport™ Soles
On the perimeter, high surface area V-form lugs do the heavy lifting and are siped
and channeled for wet conditions. Octogrip™ tread on the interior stabilize
the heel and touch down and provide a launching effect under the toes. A fanned
concentration of channeled lugs under the arch flex under pressure for sideways
stability in eccentric movements and uneven terrain.
Vibram® Aqua Sport™ Soles
Concentrically configured, they have structural lugs in a durable rubber compound
along the perimeter for grip on uneven surfaces. Wave-like interior welts in a softer
compound with graduated suction cups are heavily siped for wet surface traction.
Vibram® Race™ Soles
A high-density compound at the rear resists and helps center the heel. Sticky TC5+
rubber from the heel through the toe features self-cleaning sawtooth lugs in a multi-directional
pattern for grip and stability. At the forefoot, peripheral flex grooves increase
propulsion.
Vibram® Catalyst™ Soles
Prominent, oversize chevron-pattern tread provides grip on high relief surfaces
while its heavy siping grips in wet conditions. The heel has a modified horseshoe
configuration—also heavily siped—for braking power. Between the chevrons,
sole foundation is lightened by panels of tough-gauge screening.
